When Jordan and Michael reached out to schedule a couple’s session at their home in Homer, Alaska, I was so excited. They mentioned wanting to include their chicken coop, which I immediately knew would make for a fun day! As a photographer based in Homer, I’m always on the lookout for fresh and meaningful settings, and this fit the bill perfectly! I arrived in the late afternoon to make the most of the golden hour. Their property was gorgeous, surrounded by the forest and colorful flowerbeds. The chicken coop was alongside a vibrant greenhouse.
We began the session near the coop. Jordan and Michael picked up a couple of their favorite hens, adding a fun personal element to the photos. There’s something very genuine about capturing people in their own space, interacting with the surroundings they care for. It wasn’t long before laughs took over, setting the perfect relaxed mood!
For me, sessions like this are a reminder of why I love being a photographer in Homer. Not only do the landscapes provide a breathtaking canvas, but the stories people like Jordan and Michael bring to the table add unmatched depth By the end of the day, it didn’t feel like just another session. It felt like a shared experience, where I was given the privilege of peeking into the lives of two people through my lens!! If you’re considering a session somewhere meaningful to you, even if it includes a few chickens, I’d love to chat and help tell your story too! Laurel is an AMAZING photographer. She took our engagement photos and our wedding photos and I could not be happier. You can tell she has a true passion for capturing moments. She caught some candids between my husband and I that are SO us. And they are our favorite photos. If you need photos for any reason, you have GOT to reach out to Laurel. We will be using her for literally every occasion. I cannot say enough words about how much we love our photos. Thank you so much, Flaurel Photography!! ❤️❤️
