I’m here for the moments that most people miss.

You’ve made it here because you want something real. Not just a vendor who checks boxes, but someone who notices the way your partner keeps fidgeting with the wedding band they’re not used to wearing yet. The way your sister pulls you aside just to take a breath together. The little things that quietly say, this matters.

Hi, I’m Laurel—and I notice.

where the mountains layer into the ocean and the air always carries something—wind, birdsong, or waves.

I grew up here. Not always with a camera, but always paying attention. I started by photographing the people I loved—my friends at recess, family vacations, little everyday moments that didn’t feel little at the time. The faces in the frame have always mattered more to me than the backdrop.

Now, I bring that same energy to every session, whether we’re taking a boat to a hidden cove only the locals know about, laughing in the rain outside a tiny A-frame cabin, or chasing the last bit of golden light on the Homer Spit.

I’m not here to direct your love. I’m here to hold space for it.

I’m a wedding and elopement photographer based in Homer,  Alaska—

I believe your wedding day should feel like you—not a production for everyone else.

So, we’ll go slow. We’ll create space. We’ll plan a day that actually feels like the two of you.

Maybe that means reading your vows on the deck of a remote cabin. Maybe it’s dancing barefoot on a sandbar. Maybe it’s your playlist echoing into the trees. Wherever we are, I’ll be there with camera in hand and eyes wide open, looking for the magic in the in-between.

It’s Flaurel—like floral. Not ‘Eff-laurel.’ (Happens more than you’d think.)

It started as a nickname in middle school—a mashup of Floral and Laurel that a friend gave me, probably without thinking much of it. But it stuck, in the best way.

When I first started sharing my passion for photography in high school, I used Flaurel as my Instagram handle. It felt right then—soft, nature-y, a little playful—and as time went on, changing it never felt true to me. It had already become part of how I saw myself as an artist.

Over time, Flaurel Photography has come to mean more than just an old nickname.
Flaurel represents where I come from, how I see the world, and the way I photograph it–natural beauty, quiet connection, and room for things to grow in their own way.

Quiet. Honest. A little unexpected. Just how I like it.

“Wait, is it… Flaurel?”

From the harbor to the hilltops—this place taught me to pay attention.

There are a lot of photographers in Alaska—but Homer is my home.

While many photographers travel from Anchorage or beyond to shoot here, I live on the Kenai Peninsula year-round. This isn’t just a stunning location to me—it’s home.

→ I know when the tide sneaks up at the end of the spit
→ I know exactly when the lupine bloom, when the fireweed peaks, and which weeks you’ll catch the locally grown peonies in Homer to add as a prop to your photoshoot.
→ I know that if you want to dance in the golden light without an audience, you head to Diamond Creek on a weekday evening—and bring an extra layer, just in case the wind picks up.

That kind of local knowledge doesn’t just shape your photos—it shapes your whole experience.

Your gallery. Your timeline. Your memories.

I’m not just here to shoot.
I’m here to guide, recommend, and celebrate what makes this place—and your love—truly unforgettable.

Serving people is just who I am. It brings me joy to bring you joy (A little cheesy, but wildly true.)

When I’m not behind the camera, I’m probably making someone’s favorite coffee.

I’ve worked as a barista for 9 years, and I love it. There’s something special about remembering someone’s order, getting it just right, and sending them off with a smile.

It’s the same heart I bring to photography: thoughtful, tuned-in, and fully present.

Whether we’re planning your timeline or easing your nerves before the ceremony, I want you to feel 100% taken care of.

“By the end of the experience, I can honestly say that I consider this talented young lady a friend.

"Laurel was a lifesaver; she was so helpful and soothing while I was getting ready, very assertive about providing direction for the photos and setting up for the ceremony. AND the icing on the wedding cake—her photos were AMAZING! Delivered promptly, abundant, easy to access for the family, and beautiful. She truly captured the best moments of that special solstice for us."

Storytelling is the Soul of What I Do

Before I ever lift the camera, I want to really truly know you.

I want to understand how you connect, what grounds you, and what you want this experience to feel like.

I’m not after “epic” for the sake of it.

I’m after the way your hands find each other in silence.

The way the mountains echo back your joy.

The truth in your story, told through the kind of landscapes that make you pause.

I use the environment, intentional prompts, and sometimes even props to craft a visual story that feels deeply personal. Not just beautiful. Not just trendy. True.

and while i'm on the topic of talking about stories,

here are some things you should know about me:

Alaska born & raisedI’ve lived in Alaska my whole life and have no plans to change that — this place is in my bones.

#1

Married my best friend - In 2023, I married John in the mountains overlooking a glacier, then danced the night away with our favorite people. Best decision ever.

#2

Juneau has my heart - I went to college there, and it’ll always feel like a second home. If you’re dreaming of getting married there — I know a gal ;)

#3

Go-to coffee shop order - An oat matcha with maple syrup and way too much cinnamon sprinkled on top.

#4

Homebody meets life of the party - I love a slow night in just as much as I love a good party or a dance floor with friends

#5

Future dreams - Someday, John and I hope to open our own coffee shop — ideally one that doubles as a plant shop and photo studio.

#6

Crafty at heart - Give me a crochet project or a paint-and-sip night with the girls and I’m set.

#7

Proud auntie - I’ve fully entered my auntie era — and loving every chubby baby leg and gummy smile that comes with it.

#8

Always curious - Meeting new people and exploring new places makes my heart happy. Ireland, anyone?

Documenting all Love <3

You don’t need to be “good” in front of the camera. You just need to be present.

Let’s create something that feels like you—honest, grounded, and worth remembering.
